March kicked off with an excitement to see complete ROR Boyz together as Prapul is heading back to India for a small visit from Australia, it didn’t stand for a long time as unavoidable circumstances pushed Vamshi to leave early to Australia.
Our initial plan was a trip to Gandikota–>Shimoga–>Mattur–>Badami caves–>Pattadakal–>Aihole–>Dambal–>Hyderabad. Best part of this plan was Camping in Shimoga. But due to the time factor we didn’t stick to our plan. So we changed our plan and went to Laknavaram for Camping. Our day started at 7am, firstly we went to Ramappa temple and spent some time checking its architecture (To know more about the temple you’ve to wait till I post 😉 ) then we headed to Laknavaram lake. We were really amazed to see such a lovely and beautiful place. We didn’t regret at all. Such an awesome experience I say and we discovered an another dimension of this place..
Laknavaram cheruvu or Laknavaram Lake: This Beautifully landlocked lake is located at a distance of 80kms from Warangal and 220kms from Hyderabad. This lake was the discovery of the Great Kakatiya rulers. They spotted this excellent place amidst trees and green hills coiled all around to hold the rainwater. This Spread over 10,000 acres. This lake has 13 tiny Islands which are scattered around the lake making this place blissfully serene
Suspension Bridge: Our State Tourist department has constructed a Suspension bridge connecting the 3 islands, and several jetties on the bridge and along the lake end. Making this place very beautiful tourist destination in our state.
Our Camping Experience:
Seriously speaking this experience was far better than camping in goa. This place was very Safe and was more like our private area. Camping on the Lakeshore of Laknavaram with Barbecue, Campfire, Hookah, Alcohol, Music, Beautiful Night view of the Bridge, Cool breezes, Sounds of Rippling waters, Bird’s sounds, Full Moon, Falling Stars and a lot more..We had the best time. The Lake is gorgeous and pristine. Can’t stress how perfect this site is for camping. I just hope it doesn’t become too well known 😉 !
Spectacular trip it was..:)
Yes it was..

Hi,
Thanks for posting…
Do you also find some best food courts or restaurants in and around lake?
Also is it feasible to travel with a group of 50 pax in a bus?
Could you please provide me some info on food courts and feasibility of reaching lake by bus?
Thank you
Hello Sandeep,
There’s only one food court called Harita restaurant available there.. And Food is just average with a very small spread but you can have your lunch while viewing the waters.
Since I’ve seen 1-2 tourist buses came there on the day we went. So I can promisingly say you that ‘yes it is possible’.
Are you taking your own bus or you wanted to know details of RTC?
Also try to visit Ramappa temple. You can also find a blog entry of that temple in my blog. If you guys are enthusiastic about history you’ve to visit that place for sure.. Thank you!
Regards,
Dr. Rohith Reddy Pathuri
Hi sandeep,
I don’t think rtc provides buses to Laknavaram but you can arrange for a private bus. Food at haritha is of very average quality and I wouldn’t suggest you to eat there best thing is to prepare food and Carry it with you. I was at Laknavaram today it’s very hot and the Lake has almost dried up so I wouldn’t suggest you to go there this year.
