Bibi ka Maqbara-‘A monument dedicated to Mother’s love’

India..  Many foreigners do talk about “Taj Mahal” as soon as they think of India. Taj Mahal is treated as an icon of love of a husband towards his wife. But very seldom people know that in India the iconic constructions were not only built on the fond memories of the wife but also on the Mother. “ Bibi-Ka-Maqbara “ is one of the unique example for it which we need to look at with the  pride and respect the Heritage culture of the country.

This beautiful mausoleum of Dilras Banu Begum, the wife of the Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb is located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. This mausoleum is believed to be constructed by Prince Azam Shah in memory of his mother between 1651 and 1661 A.D. It was supposed to be a replica of the great ‘Taj Mahal’.

The mausoleum draws its inspiration from the Taj Mahal of Agra and hence it is known as the “Taj of Deccan”.

Clouds on the mausoleum is simply magical

Though it cannot be compared to the Taj Mahal. Bibi ka Maqbara has its own charm and silence. The garden area is beautiful and well maintained.

Interesting Fact is that the cost of construction of this mausoleum was Rupees Six Lakh, Sixty Eight Thousand, Two Hundred and Three & Seven Annas  in 1651-1661 A.D.

I’ve waited for a long time to get this picture with no one in the background.. 😉

Perhaps Indian tourism Board should focus more on this monument to make this as famous as Tajmahal. 😛
